Notes from Nikki
Hey, gang! Check out my newest book, Barack Obama: Son of Promise, Child of Hope (Simon & Schuster), which will be available on September 2nd at bookstores everywhere. I'm excited about every book I do, but this one was especially intriguing. The publisher asked me to write about Mr. Obama, and the illustrator, Bryan Collier, and I didn't have much time to get it ready. In fact, I had just about three weeks. Want to hear a miracle? I researched and wrote it in two! God answers prayer, I'm just saying. Then Bryan worked his magic with the illustrations. You can read more about the book in Publishers Weekly and a forthcoming issue of Newsweek. Read more... Don't miss my monthly journal, updated on the first of each month. Take a peek at News, too. There's always something interesting there. For instance, right now, I'm very excited about the news that Bronx Masquerade was #1 on Ingram's Bestseller List the week ending March 2nd. I'm smiling! I've also updated my Publish or Perish page. Check it out! |

Oh, Brother! When two new stepbrothers have to share the same room, Xavier thinks that Chris is too perfect. So perfect, in fact, that Mami is paying more attention to Chris than to Xavier, and Xavier doesn’t like it one bit. He’s not sure he even likes Chris! Through poetry and understanding, Nikki Grimes creates a warm-hearted look at blended families through the eyes of a child. A good discussion-starter for storytime, the classroom, and your own family. Check out the new teaching guide for Oh, Brother! |
